Human Resources Management Internship

Human Resources Internship – City of Daphne 2018 

Job Description 

Based in Daphne, Alabama, the Human Resources internship offers an opportunity to participate in all aspects of human resources management in a municipal government setting. In addition to requirements set forth by the Mitchell College of Business Internship Guidelines, the Human Resources Intern will perform all or some of the following job duties:

  • Participation in the Employment process beginning with recruitment and selection, the pre-employment process and City requirements, and orientation and onboarding;
  • Assistance with Leave Administration including, but not limited to, Family Medical Leave Administration and Workers’ Compensation Administration, and participation in Safety Committee;
  • Participation in Benefits Administration for new and current employees, retirees and those employees preparing for retirement, and COBRA Administration, as well as preparing for and participating in Open Enrollment;
  • Assistance with Human Resources Administration including, but not limited to, Payroll and Timekeeping, Personnel Policy Management, Implementation of Employee Self-Service portal, and Audits of I-9 files, Personnel Files, Performance Reviews and Evaluations, and Job Descriptions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Rising junior or senior standing
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Declared major in one of the business disciplines, preferably Business Management or Human Resources Management
  • Available to start internship at, or around, May 31, 2018
  • Available to work an average of 20 hours per week
  • Possess and maintain a Valid Driver’s License, and be insurable by the City’s insurance carrier
