Environmental Programs Internship

Environmental Programs: Biologist/Civil Engineering Intern (EPI) – City of Daphne

Job Description:

Based in Daphne, Alabama, this internship position affords an insider view of the City of Daphne’s on-going storm-water management program and current environmental projects while reporting to the Environmental Programs Manager.  The Intern will perform all or some of the following job duties: 

• Stormwater infrastructure field evaluations;

• Report writing and related correspondence;

• Assist with, conduct, and/or review project’s environmental compliance;

• GIS Data gathering (no GIS experience required), Processing and Mapping;

• Land Disturbance and Environmental Permitting Review and Application;

 

 Qualifications: 

Prospective intern should possess a keen interest in Stormwater and environmental projects and a desire to pursue career pathways in the Public Sector. Students from related civil engineering and biology disciplines are especially encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates possess good general computer knowledge, leadership qualities, and solid communication skills. Candidates should be able to work independently, and as part of a team. 

 

Minimum requirements:

• Coursework in Civil Engineering, Biology, or related field pursuing a bachelor degree – junior status preferred

• GPA of 2.75 or higher

• Possess a Valid Driver’s License

• All applicants must be available starting the Summer Semester 2018 or earlier for a sixteen (16) week period

• Students must provide a resume, unofficial transcript, and 500-word personal statement expressing internship expectations and career interests

• Meet City of Daphne Employment Requirements


Pay & Other Details:

Minimum Wage - $7.25 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 15-28 hours per week; flexible scheduling
