Social Services Internships
 
Counseling Internship (Master's Level Only) - Work in a team atmosphere for domestic and international adoptees and foster children who have experienced trauma and are experiencing attachment issues. Lifeline’s counselors are trained in EMDR, TF-CBT, CBT, and play therapy and are facilitators for Prepare/Enrich and then individually trained in Theraplay Levels I and II and in grief counseling, anger management, and Motivational Interviewing.  A bi-monthly clinical staffing is also available and open to interns. This is a Summer only internship.

Foster Care - Assist trainers and social workers with foster parent training classes which includes weekly preparation, monitoring weekly assignments and observing the classes. Interns will also shadow social workers during home visits, attend weekly staff meetings and assist with filing and the auditing of family files. Interns will serve as the liaison with families regarding Lifeline’s events and educational opportunities.

International Adoption - Shadow home study visits as well as assist in drafting the reports, assist with information meetings for families interested in adopting, filing, attend staff and team meetings and help with other projects (resource manuals, educational videos, community resources) that arise throughout the internship. May also include preparing dossiers for submission to foreign governments, working with the Department of State and US Embassies. 

Global Orphan Care - Work with our (un)adopted team to help organize and prep our teams for trips. Get a glimpse on what goes on behind the scenes of (un)adopted as they prepare curriculum and other resources to equip the body of Christ across the globe. The internship also will entail helping the (un)adopted prepare to host their international partners at the Orphan Care Summit. You’ll also have an opportunity to brainstorm and plan for our annual R(un) for One that is held every fall.

Social Work Administrative/Policy - Work alongside our VP of Compliance as she works to establish licensing in new states, writes policy and advises the International team on Hague regulations and federal law. Participate in legal research such as the ADA, federal laws, international law. 


 
Non-Social Services Internships
 
Church & Ministry Partner Relations - Work with Lifeline’s team serving churches and other ministry partners. You will help to resource and equip these partners to care for orphans and vulnerable children in a variety of ways; assist in the development of resources for national campaigns such as Orphan Sunday, Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, Stand for Orphans, and Mission Kids, as well as helping churches develop and carry out a strategy for orphan care. This internship is designed to help students preparing for local church leadership through pastoral ministry or parachurch ministry.

Development/ Marketing - Work with the Development team to coordinate events in Birmingham and support our state offices including reaching out to businesses and partners, working with committee members, and recruiting volunteers. Interns would be responsible for researching partnership opportunities, connecting with new potential donors, exploring methods of stewardship and donor appreciation, and raising awareness of our ministry in the community.

Digital Marketing & Communications - Work with the Communications Manager to assist with implementing a comprehensive strategy for marketing Lifeline’s primary ministry aspects: adoption and birth parent ministry, foster care, orphan care and education. Throughout this internship, the individual will gain exposure to developing content calendars, social media strategy, digital fundraising, marketing campaigns, branding/design, and a wide variety of communications mediums (print, social, magazine, podcast, email, etc).

Graphic Design - Work with Lifeline’s Creative Director to create digital and print collateral for events, church initiatives, annual giving campaigns, and ministry-wide marketing and communication. The individual will have the opportunity to help brainstorm and conceptualize in areas of event theme and design, merchandise, and look at branding for various campaigns. This individual must be highly proficient in Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Experience in photography, video editing, and magazine layout and design are a plus. Online design portfolios are preferred.
