Staff Accountant

Position Summary
Consistent with BBB Industries, LLC Finance organization’s “CASH” model, individuals considered for this position must demonstrate specific experience in Controllership, Analysis, and Services with an unblemished commitment to Honesty/integrity. This specific role will report directly to the Accounting Manager, and provide accounting support for the department. In this capacity, the individual will perform month-end and year-end close activities including processing of journal entries, perform account reconciliations, work with external auditors to provide appropriate back-up and tie out to ledger, develop a strong understanding of all general ledger accounts as assigned, as well as provide support on ad-hoc / special projects as assigned. 
 
                                                           
Job Duties
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Accountant is part of the VP & Controller’s team and is expected to assist the Accounting Manager in performing all aspects of the month-end and year-end financial close, as well as participate in various special projects and/or process improvements.
 

Accounting/Reporting
·        Participate in the monthly closing process ensuring work requirements are completed in a thorough, accurate and timely manner
o  Preparation of monthly journal entries along with appropriate back-up, support and analysis
o  Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
o  Monitor compliance with US generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures on assigned accounts and communicate identified accounting and control issues proactively to Accounting Manager
o  Complete assigned account reconciliations and related analysis on a monthly basis to identify potential discrepancies in account balances
o  Prepare and assist with on-going Balance Sheet reviews with the Corporate Controller
  • Provide schedules, support, and analytics for year-end financial audit
·        Understand and be able to defend the accounting rationale for all assigned GL accounts in accordance with US GAAP; including explaining accounting treatment to management and external auditors
Planning/Forecasting/Analyses
  • Perform analyses on assigned accounts to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, as required.
 
Other Duties
·        Support implementation/updates of accounting systems
·        Support process improvement projects
·        Track, account for, and report Capital Expenditures
o  Prepare and track Construction-In-Process project reports
o  Fixed Asset management by adding Assets to the GL, retiring assets, adding assets CIP projects, and etc.
o  Prepare Depreciation and Amortization schedules
 
Leadership
·        Effectively work within the broader BBB global organization at all levels, providing support and advice while improving teamwork and credibility of the Finance organization
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed mostly in a controlled office atmosphere.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sitting 70%, standing/walking 30%. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds is required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; talk and hear.
May require some overtime work to close books of accounts during quarter-end and year-end.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA/CMA preferred
Minimum experience
 
·        3 years or more of general ledger accounting and/or auditing experience
  • Prior manufacturing experience a plus
·        Excellent verbal and written skills
·        Intermediate MS Office skills, including MS Excel’s pivot tables
·        Capability to work in an ERP or in a multi systems environment, preferably Oracle a plus
·        Prior experience in a Private Equity environment a plus
