Spire is seeking an enthusiastic, career minded undergraduate or graduate student to join our operation in Birmingham, AL. Our paid internship program affords students the opportunity to learn and be mentored. As an Intern, you may complete various projects and perform administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned department and energy industry.  
Primary duties:
  • Coordinate and complete projects based on departmental needs
  • Conduct research regarding various market trends, leading practices, legal, regulatory, or other topics within functional area and industry
  • Analyze data to determine effectiveness of programs and assist in identifying areas of opportunity
  • Develop recommendations for process and system-related improvements
  • Develop and revise reports and presentations
  • Communicate project status and results to staff and management
  • Perform administrative functions as needed
  • Provide support to business intelligence projects. Data mining and manipulation experience is a plus.
Qualifications:

  • None
Education and experience:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Must be able to work up to 40 hours per week for a full semester, preferably through the summer semester.
  • 50 hours of required coursework towards their Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Must be performing within the college’s acceptable GPA level.
  • Must have at least 1 year of general work experience.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Preferred fields of study include Business, MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Science or related field.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
·        Must be U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
·         Must have be pursuing a Bachelor`s degree in engineering, IT Computer Science, HR Business, Marketing, finance, accounting, operations management, construction management, economics etc.
·        Must have experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint & Word), and experience with Excel using formula functions, create forms that update linked worksheet and consolidate worksheets using analysis tools.
