Associate Engineer- Module Production

Job Description


Department: Module Production- Process Workgroup
Reports to: Process Workgroup Manager
FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Summary:
The Associate Engineer is responsible for providing support for all Engineering requirements on the Module Lines, working as part of a Task Force Team for line operations, assisting with implementation of process improvements, recommending tooling requirements, keeping records, managing assets, corresponding with associated departments, leading projects, performing time studies, and assisting with line of balance management.

Essential Functions:
Specify special tools and fixtures to be used in assembly processes where required
Estimate cycle times and costs for each operation in the process
Maintain control of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) drawings and revisions
Ensure that the Assembly process is capable of producing parts to customers’ specifications
Modify the process and update all relevant documentation when required (ex: Process Sign-Off [PSO] and other production documents)
Support continuous improvement of all quality-related findings
Maintain engineering documents according to TS 16949 requirements and transmit information to other departments
Write concise and direct work instructions for assembly requirements in each operation
Attend production meetings as required and disseminate information to relevant team members
Deliver presentations to customers regarding topics such as downtime, defects, new vehicle launches, system errors, cooperative projects, and audit activities
Work in conjunction with Manager to identify training needs and participate in training as required
Work in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations and report noncompliance
Report defects in protective equipment, devices, or clothing to management
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Operate in full compliance with TS 16949 system
Comply with and promote safety in the workplace

Job Requirements


Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or related Engineering field

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage time leading to the completion of critical projects
Excellent organizational skills
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Education & Experience:
Experience in automotive manufacturing
Experience with 2D and 3D CAD programs
Knowledge of Six Sigma

Working Conditions:
70% in office, 30% on production floor
Traversing production floor
Use of protective equipment, devices, and clothing
Ascending/descending ladders
Lifting 40-50 lbs.
Overtime and weekend work as needed
