Educational Talent Search STEM Teacher

Teachers are responsible for assisting with the development and mentoring of Educational Talent Search (ETS) participants in a STEM infused setting. Teachers will utilize knowledge about best practices and instructional strategies to develop STEM lessons and resources that directly support curriculum and implementation. 

Teachers may be upper level undergraduate (junior and senior) and graduate students enrolled at the University of South Alabama.

Teachers/Mentors will plan the best session and curriculum for the Summer STEM Program.

Depending upon position focus (Math, Science, Engineering or Technology): 

Must possess the ability to lecture subject matter, lead class discussions and science lab experiments, and hands-on activities.

Must possess the ability to utilize computer technology efficiently including word processing, presentation/webpage software, Power Point and Excel Software applications.

Must possess the ability to lead introductory courses related to engineering, which may include development of instruments, processes, coding and/or robotics. 

Must possess the ability to work with math concepts such as probability, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.

Must possess the ability to create assignments and complete weekly lesson plans.

Provide engaging, project based lessons to students.

Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and age appropriate.

Ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.

Must speak fluent English and be able to communicate effectively, both orally and written.

Students classified as undergraduates will be paid $13.00 per hour.

Graduate students pay rate is $17.00 per hour.
