Student Assistant - Program Specialist

Description

The Center for Continuing Education and Conference Services is looking for a qualified student assistant to join our community outreach and education team. The Center provides innovative and in-demand, non-credit educational programs and experiences.  We are seeking a student assistant with hospitality and Organizational skills to assist with out learning in retirement program, Odyssey.

Odyssey USA: An Adventure in Learning is a membership organization and a community of learners who share the love of learning. Odyssey members design their own classes based on the interests and intellectual curiosity of the group. Classes are challenging and thought-provoking with mind-stretching activities on a wide variety of topics. Additional activities include quarterly luncheon lectures, and field trips. This group meets on campus twice per week for classes, and at least once per quarter for a luncheon social.

This student assistant should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, and will leave this job having gained broad experience in various aspects of hospitality, and event planning and organization.

Responsibilities

·     Maintain, update and distribute a schedule of classes and events to members and staff
·     Coordinate event location reservations
·     Work directly with on and off-campus caterers to provide for weekly and quarterly social events
·     Assist with the preparation and execution of Odyssey courses with the Program Director and Odyssey Curriculum Committee
·     Initiate dues collection processes
·     Create custom print materials as needed
·     Act as a main point of contact for Odyssey members
·     Utilize course management and student registration database
·     Performs general office management tasks
·     Assist with mailings lists, print production and distribution
·    Other duties as assigned



Requirements
This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details. Applicants should have experience in Adobe Creative Suites, Microsoft Office and social media platforms or web-based applications.
