Alabama Power Real Estate Specialist

This position will be primarily responsible for ensuring that Alabama Power Company’s (“APC”) FERC hydro license shoreline management plan, public recreation plan, and public education plan are effectively being carried out at APC’s reservoirs along the Coosa River System including Lakes Logan Martin & Neely Henry, and will also be responsible for protecting APC’s land and land rights on these reservoirs. This position will also provide shoreline management, shoreline permitting, and recreation management support at Lakes Weiss, Mitchell, Lay, Jordan, Bouldin, Harris, Martin, Yates, Thurlow & Smith from time to time, as needed.  Under the guidance of the Team Leader in charge of the Coosa River Shoreline Management Business Offices in Ragland and Clanton, the incumbent will assist in overseeing the company’s shoreline permitting and surveillance programs, resolve encroachment issues, support the APC Public Recreation Program’s management and maintenance of recreation sites primarily on Lakes Neely Henry & Logan Martin, and will provide support on the Coosa Legacy Structure Inventory and Encroachment Resolution Project, assist and direct lakeshore developers with the FERC Non-Residential permitting process, comply with FERC licensing and Land Use Articles of APC’s FERC licenses and the Corps of Engineers General Permit, and assist in brokering amicable arrangements among conflicting parties. 
 
Other Major Job Responsibilities:
·      Interact, negotiate and resolve conflict with customers through the administration of APC’s shoreline permitting program
·      Issuing permits for piers, boathouse, seawalls, etc.
·      Scheduling appointments with landowners adjacent to APC reservoirs
·      Address/resolve encroachment issues
·      Perform courthouse research
·      Perform light maintenance at APC’s public recreation sites
·      Interact with the company’s external legal counsel and with Regulatory Agencies, including FERC, the Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and ADEM
·      Work with local governmental agencies and work closely with internal business partners, Southern Company Generation Hydro Services, APC Environmental Affairs, Risk Services and Public Relations Departments, in addition to other teams within Corporate Real Estate.
